Venetian Blinds

A stylish window blind consisting of horizontal slats or blades that can be pivoted to control the amount of light passing through the window opening, venetians are slatted blinds usually made from polyresin, timber or aluminium. Designed to be raised, lowered or tilted, giving variable control over the level of privacy and the amount of light coming into an interior, venetian blinds are easily operated using pull cords, or tilted using a wand. They’re available in a wide range of sizes, colours and slat widths.

In terms of choosing your style of venetian, slat size is one factor to consider. In general, the larger the window, the wider the slats, as a lot of narrow slats look busy and out of balance on a huge window; and conversely wide slats look out of place on a small window. Additionally, narrow slats work well in a contemporary interior while wider slats offer a more classic look. It’s also worth bearing in mind that the maximum width of a venetian blind does have a limit. If it’s too wide, the weight of the blind will be too heavy to fully open or close the blind and some bowing of the slats may also occur. For wide expanses of window, installing a number of venetian blinds is an effective solution.
